VIP ground handling at Addis Ababa Bole (HAAB): A complete operator briefing
Bole International Airport (HAAB/ADD) in Addis Ababa is the hub of Ethiopian Airlines and one of the busiest airports on the African continent. It is also a frequent destination for state visitors, diplomatic missions, and ultra-high-net-worth individuals traveling to or through the Ethiopian capital — the seat of the African Union.
VIP Terminal
HAAB operates a dedicated VIP terminal for heads of state, government ministers, and approved VIP passengers. Access to the VIP terminal requires advance coordination with the airport authority and must be arranged through an approved ground handling agent.
Protocol and Security
For state visits, security protocols are coordinated between the host government, the Ethiopian Protocol Directorate, and the arriving delegation's security detail. GAS has established relationships with the relevant Ethiopian authorities to facilitate seamless coordination.
UHNW and Executive Handling
For corporate and executive travelers not qualifying for the VIP terminal, HAAB offers dedicated FBO-style services through select handlers. Limousine transfers, private customs clearance, and dedicated lounge access can be arranged in advance.
Crew Facilities
Crew accommodation, transportation, and briefing rooms are available through GAS's Addis Ababa network. Advance booking is essential during AU summit periods when demand significantly exceeds capacity.
